Building on the successful relationship which already exists between partners in Romania, Israel and the United States to improve pediatric cardiac care in Romania, the memorandum of understanding outlines future activities and strengthens the relationship between the parties.

Under the agreement more staff from the ’Grigore Alexandrescu‘ Emergency Pediatric Hospital in Romania will receive training at the Wolfson Medical Center (WMC). Since 2013 three Romanian physicians have trained at the WMC.

Medical missions will be carried out in at the center and children who require life saving heart surgery will be flown to Israel for this treatment. The first medical mission of 2015 took place in March when 64 children were checked by the Israeli-Romanian medical team in just over one day’s work. Two children who were seen at last week’s mission will arrive in Israel for the life-saving surgery this week. Since its inception in 1996 Save a Child’s Heart has treated almost 60 children from Romania.

The MoU will also contribute to the completion of construction and equipping a new medical center at the  ’Grigore Alexandrescu‘ Emergency Pediatric Hospital.

The partners in this agreement are the Romanian Ministry of Health, the ’Grigore Alexandrescu‘ Emergency Pediatric Hospital, Gift of Life International, Rotary District, Romania, Rotary Israel, the Wolfson Medical Center and Save a Child’s Heart.
